Emotion Tree, My Emotion forest, Emotion Map
designer / developer
This interactive art series explores the intersection of emotion, creativity, and environment. Emotion Tree transforms visitors' feelings into a living visual, using facial recognition to project emotional states onto a vibrant, dynamic tree. In My Forest, participants create personal digital landscapes by drawing on tablets, which are projected onto a shared canvas, allowing them to shape a unique, collective forest. Emotion Map extends this experience by linking visitors’ emotional responses to specific locations, visualizing them as a map of emotional journeys. Together, these works invite reflection, connection, and immersion, blending technology with art to evoke personal and shared narratives.

This interactive artwork analyzes real-time Twitter data to visualize collective emotions through the colors of a digital tree. Emotional keywords like love, happy, hope, and sad are mapped to symbolic colors based on color psychology, such as red, yellow, green, and blue. As tweets containing these words are processed, the overall color of the tree's blossoms dynamically shifts to reflect the emotional tone of the moment. Created using Processing and the Twitter API, this piece offers a vivid and constantly evolving visualization of global emotional expression.
